Karen Bechtold is a Patent Attorney with Weatherly IP Solutions, LLC.

Karen is a Registered US Patent Attorney with experience in patent protection, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights and licensing (M&A) work in various industries including biotechnology and pharma.  She has worked for small and large companies on the east coast and in the greater Salt Lake City, UT region.  She has successfully prosecuted large global patent portfolios directed to small and large molecules and medical devices, including achieving USPTO grant of 18 US patents directed to methods of use for a 2,000 year old drug which led to a $2B asset acquisition.  She also has experience defending and litigating generic drug products in US federal courts. 

In 2019, as Associate General Counsel of Teva Pharmaceuticals in Teva’s Salt Lake City R&D campus, Karen was recognized in a 2019 publication of Vanguard Law Magazine for her success in identifying patent and regulatory strategies for achieving FDA approvals for transdermal generic drug products. 

Karen has a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biological Engineering and a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering, both from Cornell University.  She resides in Park City, Utah where she enjoys hiking, skiing and fostering a small flower and vegetable garden in a very short growing season.
